Eliminating Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are a very terrifying problem that many people deal with regularly. Many of these attacks seem to
come out of nowhere – someone may be perfectly comfortable in a situation, only to suddenly break a sweat and feel
like they are going to faint. These attacks are often hard to prevent because even the person who is having a panic
attack may not know what set it off.
If you suffer from panic attacks, you may feel very hopeless. If you are in this situation and you are anxiously
seeking help, then you need to know that there is help out there.
Before actively seeking professional help, it is very useful to try and figure out what exactly is causing the
onset of these attacks. If you already know what it is that causes your panic attacks, you can try and recognize
when an attack is more likely to happen; this gives you time to try and calm yourself down in advance. For many
people, what sets off a panic attack may be a memory of an especially difficult past event. If this is the case for
you, it may be useful to close your eyes, take deep breaths, and try to remain calm as these memories surface.
If the memory that is causing you to experience panic attacks is especially horrific, you should seek
professional help immediately in order to learn coping mechanisms specific to your situation. If you do not know
what is causing these attacks, though, or if you do not believe that your situation is traumatic enough that you
must seek help, then you can actively try to help yourself on your own. Remaining calm even when you feel a panic
attack is key; try different ways to calm down, such as closing your eyes. Find what works for you.
Deep breaths are an excellent way to begin to help yourself calm down. If you begin to feel anxious, try to
relax and breathe deeply while concentrating on something else, such as counting. With practice, you will recognize
when and what you need to do in order to keep your attacks under control.
If you continue to practice remaining calm, you will eventually be able to regain control of your body. This
requires you to work at it every chance you get, but the payoff will definitely be worth it as you no longer feel
hopeless and terrified.
If nothing seems to help you, then you need to seek professional assistance. Only a doctor will be able to tell
you if your problems are more serious than you even realize. You may have a chemical imbalance, and if this is the
case, medications can work in a way that nothing else can.
Panic attacks that come on too suddenly for you to even react may be best treated by a psychology. You need to
remember that there are many other people like you, and the only way that you can regain control of your life is by
getting the help that you need. Many experienced psychologists and psychiatrists have worked with people in
extremely similar situations to your own and they can help you work to determine how you can overcome your
attacks.
Panic Away is the way to go.
